\(\text{Tax payable per dollar}:\)

\(= \dfrac{\text{rise}}{\text{run}}\)

\(= \dfrac{7000-1000}{60\ 000-30\ 000}\)

\(=\dfrac{1}{5}=0.20\)

\(\therefore\ \text{20 cents per dollar is payable in tax after }$30\, 000.\)
