\(\dfrac{a}{2}+\dfrac{a}{3}+\dfrac{a}{4}\) \(=\dfrac{a}{2}\times \dfrac{6}{6}+\dfrac{a}{3}\times \dfrac{4}{4}+\dfrac{a}{4}\times \dfrac{3}{3}\)
  \(=\dfrac{6a}{12}+\dfrac{4a}{12}+\dfrac{3a}{12}\)
  \(=\dfrac{13a}{12}\)
