Shinji used 8 litres of paint to paint a wall.

The wall was a square with sides 4 metres long.

How many litres of paint would he need to paint a rectangular wall which is 3 metres high and 10 metres wide?  (2 marks)

\(=4^2\)

\(=16\ \text{m}^2\)

\(\text{Area of rectangular wall}\)

\(=3\times 10\)

\(=30\ \text{m}^2\)

\(\text{Paint needed for rectangular wall}\)

\(=\dfrac{30}{16}\times 8\)

\(=15\ \text{litres}\)
