\(3\) is subtracted from a quarter of \(x\) and the result is \(-\dfrac{1}{2}\).

Write an equation and solve it algebraically to find the value of \(x\).  (3 marks)

\(\dfrac{x}{4}-3\) \(=-\dfrac{1}{2}\)
\(\dfrac{x}{4}\) \(=-\dfrac{1}{2}+3\)
\(\dfrac{x}{4}\) \(=2\dfrac{1}{2}\)
\(x\) \(=4\times 2\dfrac{1}{2}\)
\(x\) \(=10\)
