Show Worked Solution

\(\text{Check points by substituting into }x+2y=-1\)

\((1\ ,-1) \longrightarrow\) \(LHS\) \(=1+2\times (-1)\)
    \(=1-2=-1\)
    \(=RHS\)

\((-7 ,\ 3) \longrightarrow\) \(LHS\) \(=-7+2\times 3\)
    \(=-7+6=-1\)
    \(=RHS\)

\(\therefore\ (1\ ,-1)\ \text{and }(-7 ,\ 3) \text{ both lie on the line}\ \ x+2y=-1\)
