An ancient building has the shape of a trapezoidal prism.

The shaded side is a trapezium.
 

 
What is the volume of the building in m³ ?  (2 marks)

\(\text{Area of trapezium}\)

\(A\) \(=\dfrac{h}{2}\times (a+b)\)
  \(=\dfrac{6}{2}\times (12+16)\)
  \(=3\times 28\)
  \(=84\ \text{m}^2\)

 

\(\therefore\ V\) \(=Ah\)
  \(=84\times 16\)
  \(=1344\ \text{m}^3\)
